The BECTU Art Technicians’ Branch has been collecting freelance art technician pay rates for some time, and now we’re expanding this work to include permanent full-time and part-time art technical staff, as the branch also represents those who are not employed on a freelance basis.

We’re creating a UK-wide database of permanent pay rates, including overtime and weekend rates across England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. This will help us understand what institutions are paying, identify pay gaps, and strengthen our case when negotiating for fairer wages.

If you’re a permanently employed art technician, please take a few minutes to complete our short anonymous survey. Your input will help build a clearer picture of pay across the sector and support everyone working in art technical roles.

Once the survey closes in three months, the results will be shared publicly in a database similar to our existing freelance pay rate database.
